"Nobody saw this coming when little Sandra Cantu disappeared," said Marc Klaas, whose daughter, Polly, was kidnapped and killed by career criminal Richard Allen Davis in 1993. "I think everybody thought it was a stereotypical male, sexual predator-type of event, and as things unfolded, and it became clear that it was this ex-Sunday school teacher, I think it created a lot of extra concern in the hearts and minds of parents of little kids."

For the first time since the murder of 8-year-old Sandra Cantu, the public finally got to hear all the nauseating details leading up to her killing. But one question remains unanswered: Why did 29-year-old single mother and Sunday-school teacher Melissa Huckaby suffocate the girl, who lived a few doors down from her in Tracy, California?

The profile that FBI experts assigned to the case was a white male aged between 25 and 40 with a criminal history of sexual assault or child pornography. Upon finding Cantu's body, police became suspicious of a number of coincidences regarding Melissa Huckaby, a 28-year-old Sunday school teacher who also lived in the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park and whose daughter was a friend of Cantu.[10] On the day Cantu disappeared, Huckaby sent a text to Cantu's mother that said: "Tell the police that I had something stolen today around 4 p.m. I don't know if that makes a difference or not".[11]

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Prosecutors in Arizona have filed murder, kidnapping and theft charges against a U.S. Air Force airman suspected in the death of a Sunday school teacher who had been living in New Mexico.

A local Mormon Church leader said Montiel was a Sunday school teacher. The Christian Post, however, was unable to independently verify this information. Calls to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Longview went unanswered.
